Kayla Laufer, a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins Peabody Conservatory with a BFA in dance, is a contemporary/modern dancer whose artistry transcends conventional boundaries. She passionately explores the intersection of technology and dance.
Kayla has performed in works by esteemed choreographers such as Christian Denice, Madison Hicks, Mike Esperanza, Sorah Yang, Katherine Fisher, and many others. Kayla has also trained with Sidra Bell, Parsons Dance, and Emerge125. Recently, she honed her skills at Orsolina28 under the guidance of Jacob Jonas. This summer, Kayla joined the inaugural class at Jacob's Pillow ChoreoTech Lab, where she enhanced her repertoire by integrating AI and AR into her movement practice.
Her work has been chosen to be performed at the Young Choreographer Festival, Koresh Dance, Dance Studio Alliance, and American College Dance Association. She has recently received the Eryc Taylor New Choreographer Grant and premiered her work at the Martha Graham Studio Theater. Kayla is a member of the Chutzpah Dance Company, cofounder of Melody in Motion and is pursuing her Master's in Computer Science at Fordham University.
